How does color inversion work?

Each pixel's red, green, and blue channels are subtracted from 255. A white pixel (255,255,255) becomes black (0,0,0) and vice versa. Mid-tones shift to their complementary values.

Does inversion affect the alpha channel?

No. The alpha (transparency) channel is preserved. Transparent areas in a PNG file remain transparent after inversion.

What image formats are supported?

PNG, JPG, and WEBP are supported. PNG output preserves transparency. JPG output is re-encoded at 92% quality. WEBP is output as WEBP.

Is this the same as a photo negative?

Yes. Inverting colors produces the same result as a traditional photographic negative -- all colors are replaced with their exact complements on the color wheel.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The inversion is performed entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device.
